Today I talk a little bit about the ‘projected’ Cardinals opening day lineup. Now remember, nothing official here – just what we feel should be the lineup! It’s more fun to watch and listen below.
Other thoughts or comments on the lineup?

Today I go into a little detail about the Opening Day starting pitchers. Chris Carpenter vs. Tom Glavine. Should be a great matchup of two possible hall of famers. Watch the videocast below. Thoughts?

Scott Rolen has declared himself ready to play. Said he feels fine. Here is an excerpt from him:
Scott Rolen doesn’t evaluate himself based on his statistics during the regular season, so it should be of little surprise that he puts absolutely no stock in Spring Training numbers. Rolen, hitting .232 on the spring, pronounced himself right on time for the start of the season, which comes in four days.
“I feel like I’ve had enough at-bats,” Rolen said Wednesday. “I’m seeing the ball. My swing is in good shape and I feel like I’ve gotten out of the spring what I wanted to get out of the spring. I feel like I’m ready to go.”

Let’s look at his last 3 years.
I wouldn’t really call that spectacular offense. On another post we will discuss his defensive prowess. Oh baby!

This is his last Spring Training outing before Opening Day. So how did he do?
Carpenter struck out five and got 12 outs on the ground. He’ll take a 2.60 ERA in 27 2/3 innings into his Opening Day start.
This guy had been spectacular for the Cardinals from the very start.
Carpenter vs Glavine.
Sunday Night.

This is probably the OPENNG DAY lineup that is being used today in the Spring Training game. I thought Spezio might start but with Glavine going against us, mayb
e not.
I like Kennedy in the 8th spot. Some reason I like this lineup over last years opener.

They are mainly lefties. Braden Looper has been horrible vs LH. I believe he would have been better served to face the RH’ers of the Astros.
Lets look at Looper’s splits.
He has faced Lefthanders about 350 times less than righthanders but has given more runs to LH batters and the hits are within 15 of each….10 more doubles, 3 more triples and 14 more homers have come lefthanded. Teams are hitting .306 lefthanded and .234 right handed.
Tony, get him out of there!
