The streak will end at 165.

Posted by on 30 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: GM Suggestions

The Cardinals will have a streak of 165 straight sellouts come to an end on Wednesday. What do you suppose that is from?

The product? YEP. The team is perceived to have put an inferior product on the field. The media has written about it, the Cardinal boards that are laced with vinegar try to shove it down our throats and the cost keep escalating.

I do like the new marketing campaign that has been instituted about the Cardinals. It will show them in a human light. also, a plan is underway to give some tickets to youth and that is always a good thing. To help foster a new generation of fans.

But back to the product. It doesn’t appear ours is too bad. We might surprise people. I believe we battle for third place at the end of the season.

NOTE: Unless there is a rainout Opening Day, Cardinalsgm will be doing “live blogging” and you can write live as we watch the game. Come in, and take part!

Mo shows moxie-predict LaRussa will be gone!

This has been written so many places I thought I would chime in with my opinion. The discussion/disagreement between Mozeliak and LaRussa/Duncan on where Anthony Reyes should be is proving interesting.

We want a GM that shows some cajoles and by golly we have one. It is time someone steps up o the plate vs LaRussa and says this is the way it is going to be. I am the man in charge and here is my reasons for it. Take it or leave it.

Nice job, Mo! Look for more interesting debates to follow and I predict LaRussa will NOT be the manager of the St Louis Cardinals come September 1st. TLR’s ego would not allow someone to transcend above him.

Cardinals- blog writing

Posted by on 23 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: Cardinal Community

As you can see I have been negligent on writing anything for a bit. No, I haven’t lost my fire for what the Birds are going to do. It has been time.

So, my oldest son decided to move…. on NCAA weekend??? Now I raised him better than that!

For about 3 days time has been spent lifting and lifting and lifting….. muscles I have not used for a long time have reared their ugly whatevers. I hurt. I hurt alot.

I am ready for opening day and some routine in blogging and routine in watching the Cardinals.

One more thing, I am off to St Jude Research Hospital for some things my middle son and I need to do. It has been about 23 years since I last was there. We will take in a Grizzlies (i know they are bad) game on Monday.

See you back here on Wednesday! Thanks for being patient.

The team that goes north.

Posted by on 16 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: GM Suggestions

Let me tell you what players are going north. Today I am not going to include the pitchers, that is at another time.

Outfielders

Chris Duncan goes on the DL-Juan Gonzalez and Colby Rasmus to Memphis —-

Schumaker, Barton, Ankiel, Ludwick, Mather

Infielders

Pujols, Kennedy,  Izturis,  Glaus,  Miles,  Ryan,  Molina,  LaRue

Care to disagree?

12 pitchers to Big Club… that in a few days.

Kyle Lohse a Cardinal!

Posted by on 13 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: GM Suggestions

We have secured our 3rd starter. Wainwright, Looper and now Kyle Lohse. Details for the contract are still forthcoming. I am ok with this. After all, we needed someone to pick up some innings. This from the press release was what i like the most:

  • Lohse, 29, constructed a 9-12 record and 4.62 ERA while splitting last season between the Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies. Just as importantly, he made 34 starts and worked 192 2/3 innings.

It wouldn’t hurt us to acquire another pitcher but we shall see. Let Reyes and Wellemeyer get the spots and let’s play ball.

Gone, Gone gone, gone so long!

Juan Gonzalez. Cut him. I am not even referring to him taking at bats from younger players. To me, if you are one of the best, then you play. It doesn’t matter if you are 18 or 38 years of age. Play well and you play.

But. As they say, there is a big BUT in everything, his physical condition has left him with an abdominal strain after playing a grand total of 8 plus innings in the field. My, oh my, what a joke.

I wanted him to make it and make it well. We have no feel good stories at the moment and so now we have to come up with one.

Cut him. Ok, I will allow him to play in the minor leagues for a bit if necessary. But we are better off without the Goner.

Jered Weaver has said the Cardinals are one of two teams interested in his brother. I say bring him in, let him pitch and see what he has left in the tank. We already have arm problems on the team. Let Jeff be the innings eater that he is.

Pitching is one place that youngsters are not prone to just coming into the major leagues without lots of minor leagues innings.

Jeff Weaver is a guy the Cards can work with.
