How would you feel if that REALLY happened during the All Star break? Would it be that awful?
So you are going to ask me who replaces him? Anybody. He has been down right bad for a long stretch of time. They say he has pride and is forthright with people. When then Jason, do the right thing. DL yourself the rest of the year and announce your retirement in September.
Thompson would grab the majority of Izzy time with Garcia getting the rotation spot.

There are at least two sides to every argument.
Chris Duncan went AFTER Jimmy Rollins. No regard for where the base is at. Just a plain attempt to harm him. Now this is not the first time Duncan has shown the inability to slide. He did it in game 1 of the series with the Phils as he slide into home plate and into the groin , knee first to the catcher Coste.
I believe Duncan is wrong. I have covered him many times for his lack of hitting and poor fielding but now I am DONE with him.
Mo, please rid us of Chris Duncan…. soon.
The old timers say it is old fashioned hard nosed baseball. Just like everything else, those days are gone and cooler heads have prevailed to attempt to keep players from getting hurt. Players today are a bigger investment for the teams and deserve some protection.
As the song goes, “…that was yesterday and yesterday’s gone.”
Please take a hike Chris Duncan, you goon.

Would you?
That is bring more youth onto this team. Now. Or soon after All Star break. Remember, we are positioning our team of 2009. That is what a lot of people were telling us.
Before September, who needs the opportunity of play in the Bigs?
Rasmus? .249 14 doubles, 11 home runs, 36 RBI’s
Freese? .271 13 doubles, 14 homers, 46 RBI’s
Anderson? .333 10 doubles, 1 homer, 21 RBI’s
Hoffpauir? .305 21 doubles, 2 home runs, 29 RBI’s
Garcia? 4-4 4.59 ERA 25 BB 57 K’s
From AA
Jay? .311 14 doubles, 11 homers 44 RBI’s
Craig? .286 19 doubles 13 homers 56 RBI’s
Todd? 2-3 1.69 ERA 13 BB 55 K’s
Any of them intrigue you before September?
I don’t think we need any of them unless there is a trade or an injury that creates a gaping hole.

YIKES! That appears to be a recipe for disaster. Mark Mulder has not shown much strength so far. To pitch Wed or Thurs vs the Phillies. What are we accomplishing with this decision? I, personally, find it drips with TLR’s affection for veterans and giving them a chance to prove something. I DON’T like this move.
Barton on the DL. This also reeks of a fabricated DL stint so we could bring up Mather and activate Izturis.
Actually I think Kennedy, Miles and Ryan did quite well when Izturis went down. Izturis could have been a bit slower coming off the DL as far as I am concerned.
Let’s stay focused as a team and not give away any chances to WIN. I hope Mulder proves me wrong.
Thoughts on Mulder??

Friday night 2-1 Cubs. Ok, no offense. Albert gets #300.
Glaus got 2 bad calls that possibly changed the 9th inning. Thgis comes after Soto should have been struck out but NO that is a ball then follows with a HOMER.
Sad.
Saturday, as I type this it is 2-2 in the 7th. Ankiel homers and Albert doubes. What was that weak double play ball by Kennedy??
DeRosa is a Card killer today and Glaus is a Cub patsie.
We need this win.

Hot item now is the Rockies willingness to trade reliever Fuentes. This should be done by All Star break. The Rockies have been awful so far this year.
This came from Yahoo Sports!
===============================
The Rockies will decide at the All-Star break whether or not to trade players such as Fuentes, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
Recommendation: The Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Rays, Cubs and Cardinals have interest in the lefty reliever. Of that group, the Cardinals have the most uncertainty at closer and several teams wouldn’t even consider Fuentes as a closer. Given the Rockies’ awful record, Fuentes should be prepared for a trade before July 31.
================
He is 1-4 as I write this with a 3.94 ERA. That is not real good stuff for a reliever. He has 13 saves for Colorado. Any deal is precipitated by who we give up to acquire a new piece.
Yes, he is left handed. I hope we can give next to nothing if the Cardinals are going to acquire Fuentes.
