The crowd knew. The announcers knew it. I think almost everyone knew. ALBERT was going to BOMB the first pitch from a Class A pitcher that happened to be in the major leagues first pitch for a grand slam. It rocketed out in a hurry!
Fox announcer Eric Karros, from my recollection, never pitched but has tons of advice. He really ragged on that 2-1 curve ball to Rasmus in the 7th inning. Get over it. Speaking of Rasmus, he is a terrific #2 hitter in front of Pujols. Patient. See alot of pitches, Can slash and run. Gives AP chances.
This could be loads of fun.

to talk about in the Game 1 of the Cubs series.
Wainwright looked sharp and pitched like an ace. He clearly enjoys the title of #1 pitcher on the team. He worked out of jams and hit his locations.
Joe Thurston getting the first RBI’s of the game. How many will admit they didn’t see Joe T getting this amount of time? He is doing quite well.
McClellan kept us in the game to get to the ninth and come away with the win.
The pickoff attempt in the ninth hitting the umpire. That may have altered the game if it had rolled into the bullpen.
ALBERT. The man. The Bat. The running game. The Machine. He can do it all.
Today: Boggs vs Marshall
We have a chance to win another one! Let’s take care of business.

Todd Wellemeyer hung tough and showed some moxie. Maybe not his best stuff but he kept it close and also got t\a key hit to begin a rally that eventually propelled the Cards to victory.
Ankiel got his mojo going with several hits and RBI’s to make most of the fan base feel a bit better about what is in store for awhile.
Yadi. What is there to say? He may be the star. Not just last night but so far this season. He got hits, he picked off a runner and he made a spectacular leg block of the plate. HE made Dan McLaughlin cream his pants. Dan raved and gushed for a long while over that.
Bullpen was very decent and congratulations to Jason Motte on his first career major league victory.
Let’s get another win tonight!

New York (6-6) vs St. Louis (8-5)
Oliver Perez (1-1, 7.84 ERA) looks to extend the Mets’ run of success in St. Louis as he makes his first start against the Cardinals since June 26, 2007. Perez allowed two runs in 6 1-3 innings of a 5-3, 11-inning win in that game
Wellemeyer is looking to win his second straight start after allowing one run over seven innings of a 2-1 victory at Arizona on Monday. That was a vast improvement from his performance April 8, when he gave up five runs and 12 hits over five innings of a 7-4 loss to Pittsburgh.
