A look at the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team from a GM perspective.

Can the Cardinals Contain Oscar Taveras?

Oscar Taveras is listed as the third best prospect in the major leagues as Spring Training begins. He proved to everyone that he is a legit player in the minor leagues, now it is time to take his game to the Major League Level. Can the Cardinals contain him at the Triple-a level?

At Springfield, the Double-A affiliate, he had 23 home runs and hit .321 for an average. He stole ten bases in eleven attempts and limited his strikeouts. He is a bit impatient at the plate and needs to watch his pitches closely and draw a few more free passes. He can play all 3 outfield positions and can go after a fly ball very easily.

It is likely he will start at Triple-a Memphis but one injury away he is armed and ready to begin a long and successful career in the major leagues. It is my belief that once he is on the roster in the majors, he will be too good to send down.

The Cardinals have a good problem.
