We are going to examine the pitching styles for each of the pitchers and see if we can gather some nugget of information from it.

Analysis: As you can see the Cardinals had many pitchers in the 93-95 MPH range. Looking at Randy Choate, he faced the fewest number of batters (BF) on the team. It was even less than the late season call-ups. Definitely a LOOGY. Shelby Miller threw a lot of pitches that might account for the disappearance in the post-season. Mujica just didn’t walk many batters. Miller and Lynn threw quite a few fly balls but was about even with their ground ball rates. Waino just dominated in groundballs.

Analysis: Mujica had the highest strike percentage thrown and Rosenthal led with highest swing strike percentage. Lance Lynn and Wainwright each had too many 1-0 counts on batter, it appears but on the flip side Wainwright got ahead of the batters as Lance Lynn did, so it is a wash. Rosenthal appears a bit high on getting to a 3 ball count.
