I echo Gene’s comment about Ken Reitz, the slowest man on earth, being on your list. I also dreaded the Templeton-Smith, but I was glad with the outcome. Gary Templeton filled a void at shortstop that the wonder kid (Ray Bussey) couldn’t and that that Mike Tyson did a good job at for a while. I contribute many of the errors that Templeton committed to his tremendous range. Many times went deep in the hole (to his right) to filed balls that Reitz SHOULD HAVE HAD.

I have to ask about Tommy Herr as well. He was not flashy and not an all-time all-star, but the man hit .302 with 110 RBI in 1985 an was a big part of the Cardinals push to the World Series that season. If Reitz, the slowest man on earth, gets on the list, there has to be a space for Tommy Herr.
