Edmonds Would Waive No-Trade
Strauss has an article up and in it is a tidbit that Edmonds would waive his no trade for a Southern California team. The only likely destination he suggests is San Diego. They are interested if the Cards eat some of the salary.
Ok, I am fine if we deal JE but what does San Diego have that they would part with that makes it close to an amicable trade? Don’t say Jake Peavy. We need a pitching prospect and an established bat. Preferably a right handed hitter with some power. Is that Milton Bradley? Do we even want to go there and push that button? No. Just say no to Bradley. So is it Giles? There goes the RH’er idea. Any suggestions? Maybe we are better off keeping Jimmy for the one final year.
I look for a flurry of activity this week at the Winter Meetings. I think Mo will want to make his mark this week as his own man. We may not like all his deals but I bet he has a few this week.

I would just like to see Edmonds go. If I were the Cards, I would take someone (probably a hitter) that can play now (current major leaguer) and a AA/AAA pitching prospect. That would be a good return because they will probably not get much production out of Edmonds this year.
I’d be surprised if Edmonds went anywhere. Earlier San Diego wanted us to pay all of his salary and they’d give us some A ball guy or something. In other words, nothing close to reasonable.
Unless they really think Rasmus is ready.
