An impressive deal by the GM
Physicals have all been reported as passed. Waiting the the commish to finalize.
Rolen for Glaus AND they throw in money. WOW. Mozeliak did a good job of driving up the value of Rolen and getting something for him. I am all for this deal.
One year shorter for the contract.
Less money overall.
Better hitter the last 3 years.
Not a bad fielder( think about the foresight it took to sign an above average SS in Izturis).
It won’t matter to me if Rolen is totally awesome for the Jays. He didn’t want to be in STL and got his wish. If you can’t work with the boss then hit the highway. TLR is the boss and I am not discussing if that is correct thing to do. It is done so the movement of Scott Rolen became imperative.
I look at Glaus as the #5 hitter most of the time behind Duncan or Ludwick (whomever is playing that day).
Mo made a deal and we are better off for it. good job.
NOW, another 1 yr pitcher will be coming soon.

I’ve heard conflicting reports about the cash. If we do indeed get money from the Jays as well, this will be a fantastic trade.
I think a change of scenery will do both players good and freeing up some money would be nice as well. I don’t see Glaus hitting 4th though, unless Duncan can cut down on his strikeouts and hit a curve ball consistently.
I agree that Moz finally finally made a move that will appear to help the team. I’ve also heard conflicting reports about the cash, but I wonder how hard Mo tried to maybe get a young arm in the deal. Or was he satisfied just moving Rolen? I’m a huge Rolen fan (I wear his jersey to every game I go to),and this trade makes me happy! Little less glove, little more bat, and we rid the clubhouse of a malcontent! Way to go Mo!
Here’s another thought. How are we going to replenish our farm system. With a few exceptions, our system is so weak that are not even a player for some of the top-caliber players in trade talks. Does this mean a sell-off if we dont make the playoffs this year? Just a thought.
I’m still not thrilled with the underlying rationale and execution of the trade, but I will admit we got more for Rolen than I expected, especially if the Blue Jays pay us some cash.
Mo did a pretty good job with what he had to work with, I think.
