No way. Granted, I’m not an autograph seeker. But to me the only way that a sport’s figure’s signature would have any value is if I met them and received the autograph in person. Attaching a memory to the item would then make it work keeping. And only if it’s free.

Here’s a funny autograph story. In the days of the old stadium, I was swimming next door at the Marriot. Noticed a limo pull up to front of stadium. Ran dripping wet across the street, just enough time to grab a pen and paper to grab an autograph. Stan the Man jumps out of the limo and signs everyone around except for me. Why? Because I had a sheet of notebook paper and Stan doesn’t sign just regular paper! Needless to say a young boy was upset, but right before Stan walked in the building he gave me an autographed picture he kept in his pocket! One day I will be too famous to have to write on notebook paper!

How bout the Glaus for Rolen deal? At this point I believe that this is a done deal, pending physicals. At this point, without many of the specifics of the contract available, I believe the Cardinals got the best end of the deal.

You are definitely not a lesser fan. I’ve never paid for an autograph, but it just seems that it would just suck all the fun and sentimental value out of it. I mean the experience of getting the autograph at the ballpark is, in my opinion, what makes the signature special. I guess I just have a different view of “value,” meaning that I’m not looking to sell any of my autographs.

I have thought several times about buying one of Stan Musial’s autographs from his website, but have not done it yet.

Not at all. It’s one thing to get those autographs at the ballpark or someplace else, but it’s not a big thing to pass up on them.

I’d love to have an AP signature, but I’m not going to spend that kind of money on it.

Nah, you’re not less of a fan. The only signatures I would pay for are people that I’m sure will end up in the Hall. Pujols would be a good one to get but if signatures aren’t your thing, they aren’t your thing.
