Cardinals Prospect Report and Game Results from 4/15/18

 

The Cardinals swept a four-game series over the lowly Cincinnati Reds. Carlos Martinez was sharp on the mound as he worked seven innings and struck out eleven batters while walking four and allowing two hits. Bud Norris shut the door for a save in the ninth inning to preserve a 3-2 win.

Now their work is cut out for them as they travel to cold Chicago for a three-game series with the Cubs.

 

MINOR LEAGUE RESULTS

Memphis lost 9-4 on Sunday. Max Schrock kept his hitting strong as he went 3-for-5 in the game. Oscar Mercado had two hits and Patrick Wisdom hit a home run and drove in three runs in the loss.

John Gant started the game and went 6IP/3H/2ER/2BB/3K. Arturo Reyes suffered the loss with 1.2IP/5H/4ER/1BB/2K and Edward Mujica finished the inning. More runs were allowed as Sean Gilmartin went 1IP/3H/3ER/0BB/1K in the game.

Springfield won 14-3 as the bats were hot in the game.Thomas Spitz was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and Edmundo Sosa, Andrew Knizner, Victor Roache and Luke Dykstra each contributed two hits in the game. John Nogowski added three hits of his own. Home runs in the game were by Roache, Spitz, and Thomas. Connor Jones got the win with 5IP/5H/3ER/5BB/3K. Jacob Evans and Tyler Bray completed the final four innings.

Palm Beach lost 3-1 to the Florida Fire Frogs as the offense managed to get only 3 hits in the loss. Evan Mendoza, Andy Young, and Chase Pinder each collected one of the hits for the Cardinals. Ian Oxnevad got the loss with 5.2IP/6H/2ER/2BB/5K and Jacob Patterson and Ronnie Williams finished the game.

Peoria Chiefs won 2-1 behind the stellar hitting of Juan Yepez with three hits and two runs batted in. Elehuris Montero had two hits as did Irving Lopez. Luke Dobzanski picked up the win after relieving Alvaro Seijas and his 5IP/4H/1ER/2BB/7K
