Dominican Summer League Has Begun: DSL Cardinals Start 2-0
DSL Cardinals started the season with two wins. On Monday night they defeat the DSL Rays 9-8. First baseman Luis Cruz got 3 hits including a double and left-fielder Carlos Torres knock in two runs with 2 hits in the game.
Right-hander Juan Perez was the game starter and went 3innings with 2-hits, 2-runs and 6 strikeouts before he gave way to a host of relievers. Jose Lara, 6’2” 175 lb right-hander received the win by hurling the last 3.2 innings and gave up 2 hits and struck out 4 while allowing no runs in the game.
DSL Cardinals have Frey Pinache as their manager with Jobel Jimenez as the batting coach and Bill Villanueva in the pitching coach position. Almost all of their games are scheduled for 10:30 AM EST.
