He is considered to be the fastest player in the entire Cardinals system and at age 19 his upside is tremendous. He is the son of Chuck McElroy, a former major league reliever. He is a base stealing threat when he get on base. He has the able to hit and get on base but has no real power to hit the ball out of the park. Look for him to be a major league ready center-fielder in 2015 or 2016.

To qualify for rookie status, a player must not have exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues, or accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the 25-player limit period, excluding time on the disabled list or in military service.
