Kelly was signed as a two way player that could register 92 MPH from the mound and an all-around third baseman with an excellent bat. The Cardinals paid over slot value for him to keep him from accepting his University of Oregon scholarship.

Carson is a plus defender with a strong arm for the hot corner and has some raw power to go with it. The Cardinals have placed him at 3rd base for their future purposes. He is projected to hit the Major Leagues in 2016. As the team moves him slowly through the system, it appears he is headed for Class A Peoria Chiefs in 2013.
