The Cardinals lost the series to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Luke Weaver pitched a great game back had to come out after 97 pitches. Held Arizona scoreless for 6 innings. The relief pitching wasn’t as lucky with two home runs being allowed in the late innings for the loss.
The offense got on the board as Kolten Wong drove in the first run of the game. Earlier in the contest both benches emptied as Cardinals catcher Yadi Molina and Diamondbak manager Lovullo had words at home plate and had to be separated by the umpires.
The Peoria Chiefs had to postpone their contest with the Burlington Bees due to cold weather. It will be part of a doubleheader on May 31st.
Palm Beach lost 8-7 to Jupiter on Sunday after blowing a 7-0 lead. Austin Warner started on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits, two earned runs while walking one and fanning three batters. Five pitchers followed him to the hill which resulted in the meltdown of the lead. Will Latcham suffered the loss (0-1).
Springfield lost to Frisco 6-3 and didn’t get much offense going in the game as Edmundo Sosa banged out two hits in five at-bats and Lane Thomas addedtwo hits and one walk in five plate appearances. Joh Nogowski ripped a double in the game and had two hits.
Sam Tewes was the starter with 3.2IP/6H/4ER/2BB/4K in the game. Hector Mendoza and Ramon Santos pitched four innings combined and allowed one run on four hits.
Memphis Redbirds were winners at Round Rock 4-1 as Jack Flaherty dominated the mound as he went seven strong innings and allowed hits wwith one earned runs while walking none and striking out 11 batters. Derian Gonzalez finished the last two innings with no hits and runs along with two strikeouts in the win.
Tyler O’Neill kept his bat hot with another home run that drove in three runs. He now has four dingers in three games for the Redbirds. Oscar Mercado, Alex Mejia and Wilfredo Tovar each added two hits in the game.
