I do think that he should be a Cardinal and he's the kind of player the Cardinals need. But if he's not going to start, and the team can get back quality, then they should do it. Personally I think he might fill out the back end of somebodies rotation nicely, and do it at a cost controlled salary. My vote doesn't count, so not going to happen in STL. Essentially he's been told that he's about 9th or 10th on our depth chart. The 5 guys we are starting now. Then Pinerio, then Mulder, then Carpenter, Clement??? So for Anthony's sake, and ours, let's put him in the best spots to succeed, wait until someone offers a prospect with some amount of projection to a big league level, and pull the trigger. On a side note - I like Thompson too. He doesn't back down from anyone, just pumps sinker after sinker in there and takes his chances. Worked great for him today and that's good to see.
