On the job
What did I do today? I haven’t gotten much advice yet. Send an EMAIL to tom@cardinalsgm.com with your GM advice.
I made a list of the players that I don’t expect to ask back. I will give you a tease. Here is a partial list.
Eckstein
Maroth
Wells
Wilson
Rodriguez
I am iffy on Kennedy.
More to come. Youth BABY, that is the way we are headed!

GET RID OF KENNEDY!
For his contract price, I’d give him another year. The end of his season, the bat started to come around.
I agree that the Cards need to start getting younger. I would not mind having Eckstein back if he is moved to 2nd base. He does not have the arm to be a SS anymore and IMO he never did. However, I think that he could be a decent 2nd baseman. All those other guys can go.
With Wells and Maroth gone, who are you looking at filling in the rotation? I assume a free agent or two….
kennedy needs to go, the cardinals don’t need another .219 hitter, eckstein’s a tough one to see walk but with ryan, miles and the new GM planning to pick up a 2nd baseman(giles, iguchi, matsui are free agents) eckstein is expendable, wells and maroth won’t be missed as the free agent pool for pitchers is huge (freddy garcia, livan hernandez, josh fogg, kyle lohse….)
