Well said. Honestly I don't think Bay is going to get much more than the 4/60 he turned down, but I can't blame him for wanting to see what's out there. You are right about Theo, but Cashman has been public and private in the past in negotiations, though I don't think going public was by design. Also agree on Cameron, although his Chone projection pegs him for a .740 ops I'd be surprised if he lost 50 points in ops that quick. There's just so many variables in this situation, and the only way I think St. Louis gets Holliday is if:

-One of Red Sox/Yankees signs Lackey, and the other trades for Halladay and signs him to an extension.
-Bay goes to Boston and not LAA.

I don't see the Angels signing Holliday, and they have said "he won't be an Angel" so I don't think they are a factor. If the Angels get Lackey or trade for Halladay however, I really think it's up in the air.

Yeah, Bay signing will really speed things up because there's no way Holliday signs without seeing what Bay gets, and then adding a couple years and about ~$30-35MM to that.

It's tough to say what will happen because both Theo and Cashman have kept publicly secretive about who they want in the past. I didn't hear a word about Drew or Lugo until a couple days at most before it happened. I think the fact that Theo has remained very quiet about Holliday and that the Yankees have been quoted as saying they're looking to cut payroll makes the situation a little more clear. But, I don't rule the Yanks out of anything, especially when they have an opening at a position.

A great plan B for anyone in the Holliday/Bay running has to be Mike Cameron, who has raked against lefties the past three years (.407/.530).
