What in the world….?
Is going on? The bullpen blows another. This is unacceptable. If we had an average pen we would be leading the Wild Card race.
Motte had a very good inaugural game. Perez… well he needs another pitch than the fastball. Major leaguers can keep fouling off until they can crunch one. They showed that.
Why can’t we find a CLOSER? One that actually closes games.
Off topic question- would you add free agent Adam Dunn to the Cards team next year? I would.
Give me your thoughts.

Perez had a bad day. It happens. And today, it happened in the same series where Molina hit two homers in two games, and nearly everyone on both teams smacked a longball or two. He is, and should be, the Cards’ closer, at least for the rest of this season. And he’s really, seriously, not part of the bullpen problem that has plagued the team all season.
Motte was a lot of fun to watch! Much like Perez’s first few games. It’s always good to see some heat on the mound!
Personally, I wouldn’t try to sign Dunn. I like the defense the Cards get with Luddy, Schumaker, and a healthy Ankiel. I wouldn’t sacrifice defense, as long as the outfielders are hitting for either power or for average.

I agree with Sam – bad day for Perez. He’s had far less run-ins so far as the closer than previous options.
Control for Perez is the issue, not the pitches. He has to be ahead of hitters to be effective (at least at this stage), and he’s not doing that.
Dunn should be a DH. Not interested.
They just aren’t a good team. They are a few years away from anything. I’m not a Dunn guy either. Why don’t we go out and sign KRod for next year!!!! Spend some money and solidify the pen.
KRod will cost more per year than Burnett. Not worth it.
Perez did it again. Just throws the ball with little movement. Can’t live on “fast stuff” for a career.
Cards needs some major changes in how they assess bullpen guys.
