Monday Edition of the Minor League Report

 

The Cubs swept the Cardinals. This team is just not very good. They can’t play defense at all. The offense has no one that other teams fear. This will be a long season.

MEMPHIS REDBIRDS

This was a rainout on Sunday and now they move to New Orleans to play the Zephyrs on Monday. Jack Flaherty (0-0. 3.00 ERA) will make his second start for the AAA-Memphis Redbirds.

 

SPRINGFIELD CARDINALS

The Springfield club lost to San Antonio 6-1 on Sunday. The only offense came from Dickie Joe Thon’s 4th home run. Oscar Mercado had two hits including a double. Chriss Ellis took the loss by allowing three hits and three runs while walking five and fanning three in 4.2 innings of work. He was followed to the hill by Landon Beck Ci=orey Littrell, Chandler Hawkins and Blake McKnight. Springfield has the day off Monday.

 

PALM BEACH REDBIRDS

Palm Beach shutout Fort Myers 5-0 behind strong pitching from Jake Woodford. He picked up the win (3-3) with seven innings on the mound allowing three hits and no runs while he fanned four batters. He had a Game Score=80. The offense came from several players as Luke Dykstra had three hits, Randy Arozarena hit his fifth home run and drove in 3 runs while Randall Grichuk triples, struck out and walked in the game. Junior Fernandez (3-1, 3.27 ERA) will get the start on Monday.

 

PEORIA CHIEFS

The Chiefs defeated Clinton 5-3 as Andy Young went 3-for-5, Andrew Knizner was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’sand Dylan Carlson had two hits. Ronnie Williams (2-3) got the win in relief of John Kilichowski. Max Almonte and Yeison Medina finish the game. with no runs allowed. Bryan Dobzanski gets the start at Dozer Park facing Kane County on Monday.

 

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE CARDINALS

The DSL Cardinals tied in their game on Saturday. They had 8 hits as a team with 2B Franklin Sota cracking a double and C Ivan Herrera hitting a home run in a 4-4 tie with the Nationals. 19-yr old Angel Rondon threw four innings and allowed 2 hits with no runs and three batters fanned. Emmanuel Solano pitched 1.1 innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs. Hector Soto allowed two hits and no runs in 2.2 innings of work and Wilman Madera gave up one run and three hits in one inning.

The DSL teams play every day, except Sunday. at 10:30 AM.
